The EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP) successfully concluded its most recent activity which encompassed a wide range of topics related to General Aviation (GA). The workshop provided an opportunity for representatives of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the wider aviation community to discuss the latest trends, regulatory challenges and operational requirements related to the safe development of GA, including electric and hybrid aviation. Exchanges focused on the importance of safety promotion at the grass-roots level and the need to find an optimum level of regulation to ensure safety, whilst nurturing the general aviation sector through a performance based approach. CAAC also had a particular interest on how GA is structured when it comes to pilot licensing, airworthiness and training organisations. Comprehensive presentations were delivered in that respect on the European side, including from EASA experts as well as the CAA UK and Austrocontrol.
