From 23 to 27 September, a CAAC led delegation visited Europe for an experience exchange on safety information management, organised by the EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP). The activity was a follow-up to the May 2018 workshop on safety information management in Shanghai.

Aiming to improve the current safety information management systems in China and Europe, the activity provided for a better understanding between the two regions on their respective approaches and the learning from each other’s best practices, allowing safety information intelligence to contribute even more to a high aviation safety record overall.

To this end, the Chinese delegation first visited EASA in Cologne (Germany). Over the course of three days extensive discussions were held guided by expert presentations, focusing on safety risk management, occurrences data, flight data monitoring in Europe and flight operations quality assurance station in China, among others.

The second part of the programme took place in Amsterdam (Netherlands). At the premises of operator KLM, airlines representatives presented their approaches to safety information management. Finally, a visit to KLMs Safety Department and Operations Control Centre was organised.

The experience exchange was attended by representatives from EASA, CAAC, the China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology (CAST), the Civil Aviation Management Institute of China, KLM, Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and Spring Airlines.
