Marking the end of a year full of fruitful cooperation activities, ATMB and EASA with the strong support of EUROCONTROL held their final 2022 workshop in the ATM domain from 26-28 October, on the subject of air-ground datalink communications. The event, organised by the EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP), involved presentations of many relevant organisations contributing to datalink technological development.

The workshop kicked off with presentations on the future Multilink communications infrastructure in Europe, L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System (LDACS) technology and SATCOM New Generation (IRIS), on the first day. On the second day, development and planning of digital ATC services for full stage of flight in China was presented, as well as the deployment of datalink in Europe and the Maastricht UAC operational datalink infrastructure and implementation of ATS B2 ADS-C. On the final day, experience on datalink performance monitoring in Europe and China was presented.

Following each presentation, workshop attendees took the opportunity to ask questions giving the experts further opportunity to elaborate on the presented subjects. The main contributions for this workshop were provided by EUROCONTROL, ATMB, ADCC, DLR, the European Space Agency (ESA), Inmarsat, Airbus, MUAC, and Skyguide, who presented their insights to around 250 attendees.
