The EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP) successfully concluded its most recent activity which encompassed a wide range of topics related to electronic flight bag (EFB). The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange regulatory frameworks on the EFB of both EU and China, the best evaluation practices and to propose concrete and clear guidelines and recommendations for development of standardised EFB approval procedures, as well as to establish more close relations with the CAAC Flight Operations Management Division.

More than 140 participants took part in this workshop. The speakers from EASA, Airbus, Thales, EU operator KLM, as well as CAAC, China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology (CAST) and Chinese operators Air China, China Southern and Spring Airlines discussed the regulatory challenges and operational requirements related to the EFB, as well as practical examples and use of the EFB by the operators.

Exchanges focused on the provision for an in-depth exchange of the CAAC, EASA, manufacturers and European and Chinese operators in the EFB domain, i.e. classification, management procedures, approval process, electronic signatures, flight crew training, standard operating procedures, practical examples etc.
