The hub airports in China, such as Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport are highly congested due to the existing traffic volume.

This activity brought together CAAC, EASA and a wide range of stakeholders, such as key airports, airlines and the IATA to discuss SLOT allocation challenges, current procedures and best practices. During the course of this activity, three different European SLOT allocation models (Nordic, German and British) were discussed from various angles. The Air Traffic Regulation Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of China outline the current SLOT allocation system applied in China, whilst representatives of the Beijing Capital International Airport and Air China shared their experience from the airport operator and airline perspective. The workshop concluded with two interactive panel discussions on the topics of SLOT performance monitoring and the key elements of establishing a successful SLOT allocation system.
