To support the continuing cooperation between EASA and CAAC in the domain of airworthiness, the EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP) organised an activity dedicated to Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) certification and Continued Airworthiness (CAW), from 3 to 5 July.

On the first day of the workshop, CAAC and EASA presented their respective certification requirements for EWIS (CCAR/CS 25 Subpart H), which share many similarities but also some noteworthy differences. EASA also presented general EWIS means of compliance, explaining the methodologies by which certification applicants can show compliance to the regulation. European and Chinese company representatives from COMAC, Airbus and Fokker Elmo contributed to the exchange. On the final day of the activity, a site visit was organised to the EWIS manufacturer SAIFEI, a joint venture between COMAC and Safran Electrical & Power.

Sixty-one participants attended the workshop, representing among others EASA, CAAC Airworthiness Certification Centers and CAAC Regional Administrations, Civil Aviation University of China, China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology, Civil Aviation Management Institute of China, COMAC, Airbus, Fokker Elmo, SAIFEI and various other European and Chinese companies.
