The second EU-China High level conference 2018 EASA-CAAC Aviation Safety Conference took place in Madrid on 29-31 October 2018 supported by the EU- China Aviation Partnership Project (APP) and the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency, AESA. The conference continued being a succesful platform for an in-depth exchange between European and Chinese authorities and industry on aviation topics. Keynote speeches were held by EASA senior management and CAAC, as well as senior industry representatives (i.e. INDRA, ATR, Safran, Airbus, Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation and AECC).

The main topics discussed included the importance of cooperation between industry and authorities implementing safety standards following the development of technological innovations, developments in aircraft certification, airports, ATM and aviation safety and security, as well as future trends in passenger transport and general aviation operations.

​

The participation of high-level representatives from the EU and China reinforced the dialogue and relationship between EASA, CAAC and the aviation industry. In total, the conference counted more than 300 participants, including 48 leading aviation professionals. The networking events of the conference facilitated many side-meetings between European and Chinese stakeholders. The visit to European industry on the third day provided for an opportunity to showcase European aviation expertise.
